Workforce Development
Across North Carolina, employers consistently identify workforce as their #1 issue. In the NC Chamber’s 2022 CEO Poll, workforce far outweighed other concerns as the most pressing issue – with both the quantity and quality of labor cited. In this session, Meredith Archie, NC Chamber Foundation President, will share more on North Carolina’s current workforce challenges, insights from statewide employers and lead the group in a discussion around best practices and strategies to work within an industry to strengthen workforce readiness.

General Session 1 – Public Speaking, Learn the R.O.P.E.S
Public Speaking is the number ONE fear based on comprehensive surveys internationally. Yet much of business and even some life situations hinge on the ability to address a group comfortably in order to get your point across to any audience.

The Public Speaking R.O.P.E.S. is a codified set of rules and practical exercises to help you

  • Become comfortable on stage
  • Learn how to "own the room"
  • Project in a professional and poised manner
  • Engage your audience

General Session 2 - North Carolina’s Winning Formula for Business
CNBC named North Carolina its top state for business, citing the nation’s strongest economy. The CNBC ranking was followed by North Carolina taking the top spot for Best Business Climate in Business Facilities’ 18th Annual Rankings Report. All after the Tar Heel State won Site Selection’s top spot for Business Climate last fall, and the last iteration (2019) of Forbes’ “Best State for Business” rankings had North Carolina on top, as well. North Carolina is now consistently topping the charts and it does not happen by accident. NC Chamber CEO Gary Salamido will discuss how this has been years in the making – and what it takes to stay ahead of the competition to make our win a repeat.

General Session 3 - Technology Trends and the Effects on Associations
With the amount of disruption in (and caused by) technology today, it is important for associations to focus on what's really important. Creating member value! Strategically, what are the technologies and technology trends associations should be focused on? What do these trends mean from a member and staff expectations perspective? ASAE CIO Reggie Henry will discuss (and in some cases, demonstrate) some of these technologies and related topics facing organizations today.

General Session 4 - Repeat or Evolve - How to Stay Personally Inspired in a Changing Environment
Every day we have two choices: Repeat or Evolve. Learn the practical tips, guiding principles and mantras you can use to take potentially average days and turn them into ones that are powerful, productive and life-giving.

Jes will share her personal learnings from time she's spent with the GM of the Dallas Mavericks, former CEO of the world's largest medical device company and one of America’s most innovative venture capital firms.

NOTE: AENC will follow all mandates, laws, executive orders and Mayoral proclamations.  If the aforementioned allow us to gather in person, we plan to do that.  We will also continue as a key fundamental, to appreciate and respect each members personal feelings on how best to participate in AENC events. As a result, we will continue to make education hybrid as long as there is member demand for it.
