Breakout Sessions

Strategic State of Mind

Madeleine Henley, Walking Stick Associates

Organizational leaders constantly struggle with looking beyond their existing challenges to seeing future possibilities. The goal of this session is to help leaders move from a reactive to a proactive mindset, and engage in strategic thinking for organizational growth and change.

Objectives

• Identify effective strategies and approaches to decision-making.
• Learn to develop the type of short-term goals that lead to implementation of a long-term strategy.
• Learn to effectively manage the connection between operational goals and organizational goals.

You Are Now in Charge

Jim Jubelirer, Jubelirer Results Group

Sometimes leaders are developed, but many times the role of leader is thrust upon us. This session is aimed at new organizational leaders, staff who want to transition to a leadership role, and existing leaders who wish to help develop new leaders. The session will provide advice on how to transition into a leadership role and how to succeed once you get there.

Objectives

• Identify the common behaviors and abilities (good and bad) that impact the management and leadership style of first-time leaders.
• Understand the success factors for effective leadership.
